September Sentiments

What it do babyyy,

Today officially begins my favorite time of the year, ya girl’s birthday month! I’ve always loved September because in my mind, it has symbolized a fresh start. Of course, some of you may agree given this is around the time we normally begin a new school year. But beyond that, following the Ethiopian calendar, September is also the month of New Years. So, absorb not only the good weather, but also, the feeling of invigoration. This month also has a lot of black girl magic moments to look out for. For starters, Black Girls Rock! premieres on BET next Sunday 9/8. The awards show, created by DJ, model and executive producer Beverly Bond, was created to celebrate and empower trailblazing women of color. Some of our favs such as Angela Bassett, Regina King and H.E.R. are being honored so ItGals, be tuned in! Also, happening this month is the Diamond Ball! If you’re a Riri fan, you probably know about her annual Diamond Ball that benefits the Clara Lionel Foundation which funds education and emergency response programs around the world. We have no choice but to stan! Although we don’t get a look as to the inside of the ball, it is exciting seeing what looks Rihanna slays each year and the outfits of other celebrities that attend. With that begin said, make sure you all enjoy this fresh start, remain inspired, and tell a Virgo or Libra happy g day.

In The Know

Natural Deep Conditioner: With today’s natural hair craze, we should have products that to replenish our hair strength and texture. When I began my straightening my hair I noticed my curls weren’t as poppin’ as they once were and thought I had damaged them for good. One of my friends recommended I tried a deep conditioning treatment and I don’t mean to exaggerate but my life hasn’t been the same since! JojOba Monoi Deep Conditioner is a personal favorite and works perfectly with my hair texture but check out this list by ESSENCE for other options. If you’re natural, I highly suggest you find a deep conditioner that work for you and regain that moisturized texture, sis!

Dry Face Problems: So personally, my face gets really dry, really fast..especially in the winter. I have always used Vaseline growing up to give myself a moisturized glow. Don’t do that. Lol. Apparently, that clogs your pores. It wasn’t until one of my friends was doing my makeup and gave me some of her Ponds Dry Skin Cream. Once I began using Ponds, the game changer was when I accompanied it with another product I love, Mario Badescu’s Rosewater. It leaves my face with a soft moisture glow that was better than when I was using the Vaseline. The Ponds can be bought at your local Walmart and the Rosewater can be found at Ulta Beauty.

I remember a couple of years ago someone bought me a beautiful gold tennis bracelet. I love to accessorize with gold, so I wore it almost all the time! Unfortunately, I was getting henna done on my hand in D.C. and forgot it there once the lady was done so now I have to replace that baby A$AP!
